The Career Center is committed to collaborating with faculty and campus colleagues to support undergraduate and graduate student career readiness and success. Faculty and staff across the university play an important and impactful role in the career development of students, and we invite you to partner with us. 

INTEGRATING CAREER READINESS AND CAREER CONTENT INTO COURSES

Faculty may visit the UC Merced Career Readiness 2025 CatCourse Sandbox via the CatCourse Commons to access "Grab-and-Go" resources that support integrating career content into course syllabi.  Resources include Presentation Slide Decks, Homework Assignment Templates and Career Resources.  Topics include UC Merced's Career Services & Resources, Career Readiness, Career Exploration, Resumes, Cover Letters, Job/Internship Search, LinkedIn, Interviewing, Experiential Learning, Networking and More! Faculty are encouraged to download and customize the resources to their needs.  Please contact Elizabeth Atilano; Director, Student Career Center with recommendations and requests for additional content.  

 

PRESENTATION REQUESTS

The Student Career Center (SCC) team invites faculty, staff, and registered student organizations to submit requests for career-related workshops and presentations. Select from a menu of topics or schedule a consultation to request a customized collaboration.  Please submit a presentation request at least 3 weeks in advance of your preferred date using the SCC Presentation Request Form. An audience size of at least 10 attendees is requested.

STUDENT SUCCESS INTERNSHIP (SSI) PROGRAM

The Student Success Internship (SSI) program provides UC Merced departments the opportunity to design internship positions for undergraduate students to complete professional projects. The interns are paired with department faculty and staff mentors who provide guidance and advice throughout the projects. Call for 2025-2026 Project Proposals is now closed.

SUPERVISORS OF STUDENT EMPLOYEES: COMMUNITY OF PRACTICE

The Community of Practice is a collaboration with Student Employment Services and interested Student Employee Supervisors and Hiring Managers. This initiative offers valuable tools like the Student Employee and Supervisor Handbook, a Transferrable Skills Self-Assessment, and a new Teams group for sharing insights and best practices. Supervisors and Hiring Managers of student employees are invited to attend Quarterly Conversations throughout the year.
