USDA Agricultural Research Service: Working as a Scientist in a Lab

Date:
November 5, 2020 - 11:00am to 11:45am

What's it like working in an agricultural research lab?

Presenter: Dr. Rachel Naegele, USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Research Horticulturalist

Each lab is different and has its own unique culture, but most project successes are a team effort and not that of a single person. Participants will hear about research projects from the perspective of the lab members who oversee the projects. These scientists are at technician, undergraduate, graduate, and postdoctoral career stages and will share challenges they've encountered and stories that motivated them on their journey into a career in science.

The Agricultural Research Service is the principal in-house research agency of the United States Department of Agriculture. ARS is one of four agencies in USDA's Research, Education and Economics mission area.
