Yelping From Home: The Tech Talk Series

Date:
June 24, 2021 - 12:15pm to 12:45pm

Talk: Yelp’s Multi-Platform Schematized Logging Infrastructure In this talk, I will go over Yelp’s schematized logging infrastructure and how it supports multiple client and server side platforms. This infrastructure uses Yelp’s data pipeline to log events. I'll also discuss how the event schemas are registered and used for publishing schematized events. Once these events are logged or published on the data pipeline, we will see how the events are forwarded to data stores for data analysis. After the data is available in a data store there are several interfaces which can be used to query this data. This talk will also describe how this infrastructure provides a unified ecosystem for experimentation and product analytics. Speaker: Soorya K. Pillai, San Francisco Bio: Soorya is an engineering manager for the Analytics Infrastructure Team at Yelp. She’s been with Yelp for 3.5 years now. She led Yelp's ERG Awesome Women in Engineering’s (AWE) Reads program for three years. Before Yelp, Soorya was an assistant professor for the Computer Applications Masters program at University of Mumbai. Because of her background in academics Soorya is passionate about creating effective training and onboarding materials for engineers.
