What are Career Assessments?

Career Assessments are a great way to learn about your skills, interests, personality and values. Remember that assessments should be used to help give you ideas of careers. They should not be used as the deciding factor for pursuing one career over another. Visit our main Career Assessments page for more information and how to take one!

O-Net Profiler

The O*Net Interest Profiler can help you find out what your interests are and how they relate to the world of work. You can use the resultsto help you decide what kinds of careers you might want to explore. If you would like to take the O*Net Interest Profiler, please follow the 5 steps.

  1. Go to mynextmove.org/explore/ip
  2. Complete the Assessment (60 Questions)
  3. Print or save your O*Net Interest Profiler: Score Report
  4. Learn more about Job Zonesand Careers that might interest by Navigating to the two buttons in the system. Print off or save your Job Zones and Careers Reports.
     

Clifton Strengths

The CliftonStrengths is grounded in Positive Psychology and can help you identify and develop your strengths by building on the way in which you most naturally think, behave and feel as a unique individual. If you would like to take the Clifton Strengths, please follow the 3 steps.

  1. Email the Center for Career and Professional Advancement to request an instruction sheet and individual log-in code at careercenter@ucmerced.edu
  2. Complete the CliftonStrengths Assessment using the guide you received.
  3. For further assistance, make a 1-hour coaching appointment with your Career Specialist. Appointments can be made on Handshake at ucmerced.joinhandshake.com.
    • If you are a student in the School of Natural Sciences, SSHA, or Exploring (Undecided / Undeclared), your appointment will be with Lezly Juergenson. If you are a student in the School of Engineering, your appointment is with Elizabeth Atilano.
